Last week was a whirlwind! I returned to work on the 11th and it was none stop. But, I think I did well with my diet. Hard boiled eggs and brown rice were my staple food. I drank lemon water galore. The week started out bad because I had gained two pounds. Many say that it was water weight or muscle weight. At Crossfit, we do deadlifts and squats with dumb bells and kettle bells. So, if it will balance out I should be okay.
This week is rocky because I am trying to find a balance between work and exercise. Micaiah has been out of school for two days and throwing off my schedule. The plan is to work out on MWF in the morning and then go back on MW for Cardio and add a cardio day at home. I am looking into Body Pump classes at home. From my research it looks like Crossfit, so I will create a routine for myself.
Okay, it may be a week before I get back to blogging because I have to go out of town for work, so I will see you soon.! My eyes are still on the prize...the crown!

This week was a good week...
The first week of January 2010 and it was a good one for me. It started off with hopes of buying airline tickets to the Miss America pageant in Las Vegas later this month for Micaiah and I and ended with a $700 bill to replace a water pump that had been leaking for a few months and spewed oil all over. But, the car is fixed and I think I will treat Micaiah to a weekend in Kenner, so we can attend the Miss Louisiana Gulf Coast pageant.
As previously blogged, I started the week off with a 5:00 workout and went everyday except Tuesday due to car drama. Some days were tough, particularly Daniel's workout on Thursday but other were challenging. It seems I am going to lose a great trainer next Wednesday, Mo, who is going to school next week. Don't get me wrong, working out with Laurie was great because she was a fitness/figure competitor and knew what she was talking about, she walked the walk...but with Mo something was different. I will miss her feminine touch, but we get Daniel three days a week and Terry twice a week. I think I will mix my days up to get the benefit of both great trainers.
Today, I boiled 2 1/2 dozen of eggs. Micaiah and I grab a couple for breakfast in the morning. She usually has a Cinnanon toast cereal bar with a boiled egg. I don't know if we are missing the nutritional valule because neither of us eat the yolk. But we like the egg whites. I found the Stoneyfield Organic Greek Yogurt and love it. I have fresh berries that I use to top off the yogurt. They sell individual sizes with Honey at the bottom, which I will bring to work.
Next week is going to be challenging for me because we have a full day of meetings aat work on Monday. We get continental breakfast, and I plan to bring my own. I plan to pack my office fridge with yogurt, Kashi bars and water. No sweets for me. I will get a grande guilt free latte and sip on it most of the morning. They will provide lunch, but I hope only to have salad. If not, I will open a can of chicken salad and have that with Wasa crackers. There will be two snacks on Monday. I think I can do this nutritional thing with planning. My drive to Opelousas will feature a snack and water. When I leave Opelousas I will have lunch. The week, as chaotic as it getws, will not control me. I plan to control it. I feel so much better when I go workout in the morning, I might push myself to go every day next week in order to get through my work week. poi
Today, I found some recipes on SparkPeople and made great Cinnamon Roasted Pecans. This is good for me because I was craving Pecan Praline. I got it in a healthy recipe. Instead of sugar, the recipe used Splenda. I like. Micaiah wants Pig in the Blanket tongiht, I will see if I can find a healthy recipe. She will never know. Even if it is healthy, she will eat it unlike my husband and stepson. Tomorrow we dine on Taco Soup all day. I got that recipe from Spark People. Things are going to get easier when I don't know.
At this point, I don't know if I am losing weight, but I feel better. I have taken out a pair of jeans that I have not worn in a year and put them up on in my closet by the window to see what I hope to be wearing on February 13, which is the Carencro Mardi Gras parade. We usually open our home to visitors to view the parade. The menu includes barbeque chicken, thighs and drumsticks, rice dressing and baked beans. I plan to remove the skin on drumsticks to eat and have minimal helpings of the other stuff. By that day, I will have the caloric intake of these items to know what my caloric intake will be. I have to admit that will be times I get the eating right and then other times I don't, but I will not beat myself up when I don't!
That is the key to this...although I have my eyes on the prize, I know that there will be times I will cheat. But, I will not beat myself up for that. I will push the water and limit the diet sodas. I love Ginger Ale, but since they don't make it in Diet cans, I will eliminate it. Normally, I nurse a 20 oz Diet Dr. Pepper for about four hours, if not more.
I hope everyone has a great weekend and I will blog later...

Baby it's cold outside! So let's stay in bed....
Well, those words best describe what is going on in Louisiana right now. It is cold! Friday the wind chill will be between 8-13 and it should get as high as 34. But, I don't plan to stay in...I am going to finish my workout week strong...This has been a cold week. I have logged all food intake and down abut 3 gallon of water thus far. I have stayed within my Carb, fat and protein levels! I did not go above 1500 calories this week. This is my last week before I return to work on the 11th, so the test begins. How will I handle work and healthy eating.
Thiis week I got up on Monday, I had to miss Tuesday as my car was leaking some sort of fluid, but I did use hubby's truck on Wednesday and got Debbie Greene to go workout today, Thursday. Daniel was the trainer today and as adorable as he is, he sometimes confuses me. First, let me say when I walked out of the house at 4:45 this morning, it was not cold. I got to the gym at about 4:50 and said, geez, it's not cold. I saw a light on near the back of the gym and mumbled, I bet Daniel is going to have us run. When he started explaining what he was going to have us do, I swear I was in a Calculus class. I did not understand what was going on. What I like about Daniel is he always puts us in teams and usually teams us up with ladies who will push you. I was with Debbie and we pushed each other. The interval training he had us do was tough, but very enjoyable an hour later. My workout was slowed a few times due to my knee. I don't have knee problems, but it usually pops a few times during a workout, but as I sit here, it feels fine. The wall squats were trying but as long as it gets my boooty right, I will squat!
Thanks to Tori and Veronica for pushing me in the end. I really think this is the best workout for me, these ladies rock! Oh yeah, I went to work today and they had King Cake. I resisted. We start the Biggest Loser contest at work on the 11th and it goes until May...that is a long time. Although I will participate in the contest, I am more focus on me winning my own personal competition. People don't realize that I set little goals for myself and I try to accomplish them. I set workout goals...which leads me to discuss the title!
About the title, it will be very cold on Friday, but I want to go workout! Can you believe if I went on Friday, it would be the first time I worked out four days in a week? Hard to believe, but it is sometimes that I must do to achieve my goal. Next week, I will try for five days, primarily because I need the piece of mind that the early workout will provide doing the back to work week. Once school begins on the 19th, I will go to three times a week workouts and then hit the treadmill or the rowing machine. The month of January will rock for me because it will set the stage for a crazy February.
Before I close, I just want to say that I am really learning how to eat...I am really focusing on my intake of carbs, fat and protein. I am up to 9 glasses of water a day. I will say this again, SparkPeople.com is a great resource tool. There are recipes submitted by users with nutritional reports. This weekend, Durkey is making Chilli, while I will be making a Taco Soup with Ground turkey. I have a bag of pecans that I don't know what to do with but I found a recipe for Cinnamon Roasted Pecans, which I will make over the weekend. My mom taught me how to make Spice Tea and I never knew the nutritional value and I found it on SparkPeople. I am liking this website which is also available as an I Phone App. Check it out...until we meet again,
I am snuggled in bed getting ready to put my eye mask on...Nightie, night!

Out here grindin.....
I had planned to hire a personal trainer to help me prepare for the crown, but some unexpected things came up...Micaiah and I are trying to go to Las Vegas with NAM for the Miss America pageant and my SUV is acting a little crazy...so I am back to waking up at 4:30 to go to Bootcamp at 5:00. Went this morning it was Great....Mo had us working on arms, quad and abs...that is what I needed. Later, I came home and did a Fat Burner Tae Bo workout...don't really like Tae Bo, but it was okay. I have planned my meals for the rest of the day and if all goes well, I will have managed my fat and carb intake.
Today, I boiled a dozen of eggs and I ate the two as snacks. Unfortunately, I have an extreme dislike for yolks, which is why I don't eat scrambled eggs. I plan to drink a gallon of lemon based water within two days...I am wearing out the wood to the bathroom. I will wake up at 4:30 on Tuesday and then workout at home on Wednesday then hit the gym on Thursday and Friday. I go back to work on Monday and the 5:00 workouts will help me get through the day. I got some Kashi bars to snack on next week. I will bring a couple of boiled eggs and water! I will make this work. I am going to work hard with Mo and Daniel and Terry to get the body sculpted because I represent their business. If I don't transform me, I will do a disservice to them.
I got my dress already, I know that is not important, but one less thing to worry about. I got my interview suit, another thing off my list. I have swimsuit ideas but I will work with Debbie on that later. Many people say that one should just do a pageant and not worry about anyone. It is rather hard to compete when one is not at their optimal competition level. As many know, unless one is doing a plus pageant, many of the winners are not over a size 8....but that has changed and I would like to continue to change that...I will end up transforming my body to the point that I will look healthy and be confident in whatever I wear. Realistically, not many married women with children are less than a size 6, if you are...live it up and enjoy life. One thing I want to make perfectly clear is that a pageant is not the reason for this change, it is my wanting to be a better me. If it helps in the end with the pageant, that will be icing on my Red Velvet Cake....yes, a piece would be warranted if I win the crown but training would commence immediately for Nationals. But, that is three months in the making....
Personally, I am actually heavier than I was when I was pregnant with Micaiah in 2002! My hysterectomy changed my body and my metabolism...oh that is hormones! I have a pouch that I never had after delivering Micaiah...my waist is actually 6 inches wider than it was when I was in college, so that is not bad. My boobies have gone South, but I can fix that with some tape for swimsuit. Regardless, I refuse to make surgical changes because I don't handle anethesia well, so I gotta work it out!
